Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage in your browser or app) Noor uses.
Summary
Noor only uses storage that is strictly necessary to provide the service you request. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build user profiles for advertising. Because only strictly necessary storage is used, no consent banner is required (§ 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG).
Storage on the website
- Language setting (
noor-lang, local storage): remembers whether you chose English or Arabic. Stored until you clear your browser data. - Support form draft (session storage): temporarily keeps your unsent support message so it is not lost; deleted when you close the tab or send the message.
- Login session (Supabase Auth, local storage): keeps you signed in after you create an account or sign in. Removed when you sign out or clear your browser data.
Storage in the app
The Noor app stores your settings, reading progress, bookmarks, language and login session locally on your device so that the app works and remembers your choices. If you are signed in, this data is also synced with your account (see our Privacy Policy).
Third parties
Our hosting provider Cloudflare may set technically necessary security cookies to protect the website against attacks. When donations become available and you choose to donate, you will be redirected to a Stripe payment page; Stripe sets its own cookies there under its own cookie policy. Noor itself does not place Stripe cookies on our website.
External resources (Google Fonts, content delivery networks and Quran audio providers) receive your IP address when files are loaded, but we do not use them to set cookies. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Managing storage
You can view and delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings, or by clearing the app data or uninstalling the app. If you delete this storage, you may be signed out and your language setting will be reset.
Changes
We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the storage we use. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (for example analytics), we will ask for your consent first.
